Review of The Last King of Scotland (2006) by Eric G — 07 Jul 2009
An unlikely tale of a young Scottish doctor and his increasingly involved relationship with Ugandan President Idi Amin. The direction is tight, hitting a perfect balance of drama, humour whilst not shying away once the violence and atrocities begin.
Forest Whitaker is simply tremendous as the charismatic Amin, a man who amasses playthings like a western capitalist, including Dr. Garrigan himself, but then dispenses with his own people with a psychopaths ease.
