Review of The Last King of Scotland (2006) by Laxmikanth D — 18 Nov 2011
James McAvoy puts on a splendid performance as the innocent doctor, but ultimately, Forest Whitaker steals the show, along with the Oscar, with his portrayal of Idi Amin. Whenever he speaks, we listen.
He performs with such enthusiasm in every word he speaks and step he takes that, at times, we forget he plays a mass murderer. The ending is quite clever and stays loyal to the true events that happened in Uganda with some spliced live footage.
The film paces itself well and does a great job at keeping you interested and edgy as you see Amin's global impact rise.
