Review of The Last King of Scotland (2006) by Nate G — 12 Apr 2012
There's probably not much I can say about this movie that hasn't been said by everyone else, but this movie is better than advertised. Obviously Forest Whitaker was very impressive, but surprisingly I found McAvoy to have been equally impressive.
Based on a true story, it is one of few of it's kind that don't bore me relentlessly. Very moving story, jam packed with suspense. The story did stray from Amin more than it maybe should have, but McAvoy's character was still very affectively used as a vessel for the story, because of his unique perspectives.
Also, he remained quite naive of Amin's actions, especially early on and so it made an interesting statement about how many people, certainly from outside of Uganda probably learned of Amin's atrocities.
Definitely a must see.
