Review of The Last House on the Left (2009) by Lloyd D — 10 Jan 2011
Now this is how a remake should be made. Unlike most that are weak reboots this film improves on the 1972 Original in any way. 2 teens are kidnapped by crims and are brutalised. When they end up at the parents place the parents get revenge.
The acting is top notich and to give the lead actor credit he's no david Hess but did a decent job aiming for a different approach instead of ripping off Hess's style. Sadie is more evil and looks a bit like Drusella from Buffy which suits the character nicely.
The father is a doctor and is shown as such unlike the Orignal which was in name only. The direction is smooth and the action never lets up showing the heroes have flaws and the crims are shown as evil as they should be but also human as well.
Impressive blood and gore and once it starts it never lets up. Most complained about the ending but I liked it and the leader got what he deserved. Thank God they dropped those 2 silly cops as they got on my nerves VERY quickly and were more annoying then funny.
Awesome film and def a standard remakes should go for.
