Review of The Last House on the Left (2009) by Rose S — 28 May 2011
Honestly, who doesn't love a good rape and revenge flick now and again? (Actually, probably a lot of people.) Surprisingly, it's a remake of an old forgotten Wes Craven movie that ends up being a pretty decent example of the genre. It's shot very very well, and the acting is far better than the genre calls for. But then, the movie spends far too much time on what we HAVE to sit through (the rape), and too little time on what we WANT to sit through (the revenge). Also, only one of the killer/rapist ends up meeting a satisfyingly brutal death. The others slayings are pretty tame (read: Lame). Lets just say, a final scene involving a certain electric kitchen appliance, had the potential to be much more fun then it ultimately was.
--6.5/10--.
