So much unnecessary gore. Choices were made less for storytelling and artistic expression of the horror genre and more for shock value and a cheap scare (more like "disturb"). I blame the audiences.

.. Audiences of today demand gore and over the top, unnecessary violence. It's no wonder none of the remakes can hold a candle to the originals...
