Review of The Last House on the Left (1972) by Jennifer B — 16 Nov 2009
Probably the precursor to films like Hostel and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the sense that it probably is one of the first nationally released torture horror films. It's a harrowing concept, though, and that alone makes it scary.
Some parts detract, but overall, it's a great film because Wes Craven has a great understanding of horror.
