We were first introduced to the demonly Teenage girls back in â~74 with the cult classic The Exorcist which treaded new ground which had never been touched in cinema history, starting a whole new genre amongst horror. After the terrifying hit came numerous mindless sequels which dragged the series down by playing new bone-twisting moves trying to one-up the original which soon turned the franchise into a laughing stock and tired it out. 2010 brought us a new and realistic homemade version of the film we once feared. The Last Exorcism, is simply a drag. The story is original, there has never been an approach to the demon flicks in that way, especially the exorcist franchise where this has clearly been inspired from. It is at times tense especially the last 10 minutes of the film but the rest seems to drag a bit too long. When watching you will find yourself becoming slightly bored and will find the film quiet tiresome. The introduction of the film lasts too long, even before the frights begin it takes time to meet the characters and to even to get familiar with the film. When we are finally introduced into the haunting it happens fast and takes time to get from one scare to another. It is at times quiet scary with its defining silences and the way it makes us unaware, but soon becomes drowned out with its calm talk moments that come straight after. The only real memorable moments of the film is when the crew witness the birth of a red demon baby from the teen in an evil ritual which soon turns to disaster. The film does tie together perfectly as there are certain hints throughout of the future events which later happen, but, if there was a little less discussion and more fright then the film would be on good grounds. Overall the film gains originality but is suddenly choked by boredom and lack of intensity and fear. An Exorcism I would not want to experience againâ¦Â .

VERDICT: Overall, below average. It has its scares and shocking moments but is unfortunately it is drowned out by the lengthy introductions and the dragging dialogue. Lets just say its not on my "watch again list".

Grade:[C-]   Score: 30/100.
