Review of The Last Exorcism (2010) by Dan B — 07 May 2011
Lo-fi exploration of the same territory as one of the most successful horror movies ever made. It was bound to come off second best, (and the doco format is getting increasingly tired). BUT⦠the script and characterisation are more surprising than you might expect, and the film almost hangs together just on the strength of Fabianâ(TM)s riveting central performance.
Ultimately the narrative backs itself into a corner that it canâ(TM)t escape from without disappointing, but the lower your expectations, the more fun youâ(TM)ll have along the way.
