Review of The Last Emperor (1987) by Shawn M — 12 Jan 2009
A very good movie, that has a very lasting visual impact on the viewer. I did feel, however, that its emotional impact was less impressive, at least compared to what I would have expected. I also may have gotten more out of the film if I had a little more background in the history of China, as I did find some of the movie a little confusing (not so much in terms of the story and character development).
All in all, though, a successful film that likely improves with multiple viewings.
