There is a certain rough authenticity to Jack Nicholson's performance in The Last Detail. As Billy "Bad Ass" Buddusky, a rough and tumble Navy "lifer", Nicholson excudes a a dangerous charm alongside the glimmer of a caring soul.
I think this is his best performance. "I am the motherfuckin' shore patrol, mother fucker!".
