Review of The Last Detail (1973) by Keaton P — 03 Dec 2009
I am new to Ashby, but I can tell him and I are going to grow close in these coming months. Nicholson was type cast well. Otis Young shares a striking resemblance to OJ Simpson. ( this could also just be my racist side rearing its head through the cloak of a harmless movie review.
) Randy Quaid plays naivete like no other young actors could have. The film is a travel story, and in my heart I have always had a place for those. I find them to tell more through the journey than most other films have found a way to.
The movement of place to place, city to city allows for the characters to gain trust in their growing unknown future. It also makes for some nice visual. Hint to filmmakers, anytime you can have a train in your shot, do so.
They are beautiful things, and they posses more symbolism than any one man can spew about.
