Review of The Last Detail (1973) by Ben Sachs for Chicago Reader — 03 Jan 1988
Though it takes place in winter, it’s an ideal summer movie—breezy, charming, and coolly antiauthoritarian. Last Detail is, of course, an antiauthoritarian fable, and the film’s tolerance for oddballs and down-and-outers ends up feeding its contempt for the Navy’s punitive rules.
