I'm back! So many movies seen and so little time to write about them. Still need to wrap up 2006 and write about the good ones, but here are some brief reviews of other viewings over the past few months.

Catch and Release (2007) - 2.9/10.

Director - Susannah Grant.

Starring - Jennifer Garner, Timothy Olyphant, Sam Jaeger, Kevin Smith, Juliette Lewis, Fiona Shaw.

Jennifer Garner's fiancee dies so she moves in with his best buddies, soon falling for the most despicable one of them all. Doesn't work well as a romantic comedy as all as you simply can't buy the new couple. Only Kevin Smith garners any laughs. Avoid.

Lords of Dogtown (2005) - 5.2/10.

Director - Catherine Hardwicke.

Starring - Emile Hirsch, Victor Rasuk, John Robinson, Michael Angarano, Nikki Reed, Heath Ledger, Rebecca DeMornay, Johnny Knoxville.

Skateboard biopic has some exciting skating scenes but the story of these young pioneers falters in the end.

Driving Lessons (2006) - 5.5/10.

Director - Jeremy Brock.

Starring - Rupert Grint, Julie Walters, Laura Linney, Nicholas Farrell.

This British comedy certainly recalls Harold and Maude although it's not in that league. Still this lightwieght comedy has enough charm to keep most fans of British comedies enertained. Plus it's always nice seeing Julie Walters.

Last Castle (2001) - 2.4/10.

Director - Rod Lurie.

Starring - Robert Redford, James Gandolfini, Mark Ruffalo, Delroy Lindo, Clifton Collins Jr., Robin Penn Wright.

Horribly cliched prison drama with an insipid military twist. An embarrasment to all involved.

Tao of Steve (2000) - 6.4/10.

Director - Jenniphr Goodman.

Starring - Donal Logue, Greer Goodman, Nina Jaroslaw, Kimo Wills.

This extremely low budget indie comedy is uneven but full of laughs and charm. Logue stars as "Steve" an overweight slacker who should'nt be able to charm women but somehow does.
