Leaving aside any lengthy comparisons with "Blair Witch" (which incidentally, I preferred) this is a nice little movie based on a cable TV team's 'live' foray into the New Jersey forest to track down the legendary "Jersey Devil" and the subsequent journalistic investigation into what became of them. As the film doesn't pretend to be real I wasn't so hooked at the beginning with all the pseudo-live pre-filming 'footage', and some of the characters didn't initially come over as entirely believable.

However as the film gets going, it does become much more interesting and there were points where I was becoming fascinated trying to work out what had happened as the grisly clues began to mount up. But at the point where the previously lost video footage of the crew's last moments turned up, I began to twig what was going on and so for me the ending was a bit of a disappointment.

However it's an original film, and at points quite scary, certainly posing many questions (with all of them eventually answered) and a twist at the end which is probably great if you're not unfortunate enough to see it coming :(.

I've yet to see the extra material regarding the actual legend of the Jersey Devil stories, but it seems like a really nice idea to have included this piece of background as a DVD extra.
