Review of The Last Broadcast (1998) by Bryan W — 07 May 2009
The spiritual predecessor to The Blair Witch Project features a fascinating pseudo-realistic look at an event that seems just small and quirky enough to have really happened. Most of the film carries on at a measured, creepy pace; though it lacks the aforementioned film's immediacy in its terror, the suggestion of the events being discussed via interview and editing manages to match the tone without the jump scares.
All of this is ruined, of course, by the atrociously stupid ending, but it is worth the ride.
