Review of The Last Broadcast (1998) by Lester Y — 09 Oct 2010
Man, I should have seen this along with High Tension for a "Last Ten Minutes Singlehandedly Destroying Entire Movie" double feature.
A precursor to Blair Witch, with a shockingly tiny budget it manages to be very dynamic and creepy, using nothing but inexpensive software-based editing that creates a purely digital creation that's effective in providing some grainy scares. The faux-documentary special format works surprisingly well, although it kind of disrupts the movie's flow sometimes. At the end of the movie, the killer is revealed, and the twist would have been fine if not for the sudden aesthetic change that totally ruins the aura of the previous 80 minutes.
