Review of The Lake House (2006) by Eva T — 21 May 2010

Adapted from a korean movie. This movie is nice and the 2 leads have good chemistry even though their screen time wasn't together most part of the movie. Sandra leave the lake house and left a letter in the mailbox for the next owner.

Keanu is the new owner. He is single and is back because he has some trouble with his father Christopher Plummer. She is a doctor posted here. She state her new address just in case any mail didn't sent through.

Her year is 2006. Keanu is puzzled as he is in year 2004. Soon they were writing letters and sent through the mailbox. It is just as fast as email. They even have the same dog. He give her some places to visit in town.

She ask him to help her get a book she left at the train station 2 years ago and he did. They even saw each other. She just can't remember. One day the dog ran away and Keanu chase until he met Dylan Walsh, the ex boyfriend of Sandra.

He invite him over for his girlfriend birthday party. Keanu strike up a conversation with her and they dance and kissed. The guy Dylan mention she kiss is Keanu actually. They sort of quarrel over why didn't he told her he like her.

Then Christopher suffer heart attack and pass away. Sandra wish she can be there for him. He wants to meet up in the future and she wants to meet at a popular restaurant. Keanu book 2 years from now. Sandra went and indeed it is under his name but he didn't turn up.

She decides this fantasy should end and he doesn't know why he is a no show. She doesn't reply his letter anymore. He pass the keys to Dylan and tell him Sandra wants the lake house and left. Keanu and his borther combine together to open a firm.

Sandra hook back with Dylan. She find a new apartment and the firm she found is from Keanu. But his brother siad he died 2 years ago on Valentines' Day. In the beginning when Sandra witness an accident, that was Keanu.

She quickly send a letter tellng him not to come and find her and to wait for 2 years and meet at the lake house. Indeed he came and they kiss just like long lost lovers. This is love found, lost and found again in the most unexpected way.
