Review of The Ladykillers (2004) by Dorian L — 15 Jul 2009
Meh. It was alright. I didn't like Hanks as much as I expected, loving him as an actor in addition to loving his great sense of humor. But I still enjoyed it at least somewhat. There was some nice work by Deakins.
But the story for me was just too thin. Then the ending wasn't that great, or surprising really. The music was spectacular, just like O Brother. But the film, in terms of black comedies from the Coen's, ranks behind O Brother and Burn After Reading, which I enjoyed more than most here.
I haven't seen any of the Coen's other comedies, and I wouldn't classify Fargo as such.
