The dialogue is somewhat hard to follow at times and I found the start of the movie a bit confusing, with there being alot of smooth talking explanation with a fairly heavy Southern accent, courtesy of the main character, Professer G.H. Dorr (played by Tom Hanks). Given that its a Cohen Bros movie it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that it has this mix of old and new and that it has quite alot of strong language and crude humour so bare that in mind, though it is fairly funny in parts, the crudeness would/will probably put peopleoff, knowing that one half of the Wayans bros.stars in the movie as one of the criminal motley crue, should tell you something and of course his character says the majority of the very coarse, strong language, though towards the end of the movie we end up getting the idea that he's perhaps not as tough as we might think.

Its quite interesting to see how the main character sweet talks his way out of what he'd call 'quite irregular' occurences, in one scene the old lady (Mrs. Munson) finds the professor hidden under her bed, hiding from a policeman. You'll have to watch the movie to see how he talks his way out of that one!

The movie had somewhat of a comic book feel to it, with the characters being quite quirky and varied too I think. I actually quite enjoyed the ending to this movie and I think the movie makes you think about the kind of people that you believe and trust.

I don't think that this movie is as bad as some people think or say it is really but im not sure I'd say its a particularly good movie either, it won't suit everyone and its a bit crass/daft in places, in a way that im not sure really works, so im giving this movie a 3 star rating as I think thats about fair. If your looking for a faithful remake of the original movie or otherwise quite a traditional kind of a movie then this isn't really for you but if you like quirky Cohen Bros comedies then its probably worth a watch. If not then its probably not for you, so judge for yourself whether this is for you or not... I don't think I would recommend it as such because there are funnier movies out there and I don't feel that it worked particularly well as a mix of a traditional and modern comedy, really, to be worth purchasing the DVD just to see but I wouldn't say its not worth a quick watch if it came on TV, it depends on if its your sort of thing of course...
