Review of The Lady in the Van (2015) by Alan W — 18 Nov 2015
Maggie Smith is superb as the eccentric ex - nun who 'accidentally' kills a young man years earlier. The trauma lives with her for years, as she becomes known as 'the lady in the van', she came to Camden for three months and stayed for fifteen years!
The film is a frustrating yet compelling tale, of 'kindness', and some class distinction. Not to mention an ungrateful, dirty, smelly, woman living in a van. We're taken through the daily life of the residents of Gloucester Road, as they become accustomed to their new permanent visitor. The film is well worth a watch, particularly if you're a fan of Maggie Smith, or this particular genre, or maybe just like a nice story.
