Review of The Lady in the Van (2015) by Sudakshina B — 18 May 2016
A vivid portrayal of a peculiar and true story.
From a filmic viewpoint, this was a delight to watch with authentic performances delivered by the cast and impressive visual effects used to portray the double lives authors can lead.
From a literary viewpoint, Alan Bennett brings out various peculiarities, not just of those of Miss Shepherd herself but also in how he chose to care for her rather than his own ageing and lonely mother. It has me intrigued.
