Review of The Lady in the Van (2015) by Late R — 17 Aug 2017
I do love a good and unmistakably British film; unfortunately, this was only one of those things. The story is certainly interesting, if only because it is as bizarre as it is true, and the acting was great with Maggie Smith putting in a particularly fantastic performance as the despicable Lady in The Van, but that's about all it has going for it.
And even that becomes something negative when you realise that the character is so unpleasant that you really couldn't care less about her mysterious past and how she came to be in the situation she's in.
Instead, you're just hoping that the whole thing ends as quickly as possible.
