Review of The Lady from Shanghai (1947) by Eduardo C — 23 Feb 2009
First off, it feels much longer than 87 minutes, and I mean that in a positive way. The mystery is very complex but Orson explains it all in the end, but nevertheless, every time I see it I feel I'm watching it for the first time.
It's because I never expect the characters to behave the way they do and because the excitement of the film takes me along for a ride. And I really love seeing Playland by the beach, the amusement park on the great highway that got torn down in 1972, because my memories have pretty much gone away.
