Review of The Lady from Shanghai (1947) by Carlos R — 17 Sep 2010
A great achievement in direction, camera work and cinematography... but of course they're not the only great things about this film directed by Orson Welles. The plot is magnificent and the narrative tension is never lost, every scene is very well written, acted and directed, despite not being a perfect film.
I think it's a film that had a lot of potential, and that needed maybe 15 more minutes to develope better the movie's plot; because a lot of things were revealed and shown, but not all of them were explained.
.. maybe those are flaws in the script or maybe those were Welles' intention... I don't know. But anyway, a very good film and a lesson in directing by Orson Welles, despite the flaws.
