Review of The Lady (2011) by Nicholas M — 02 Mar 2012
What is the price for freedom? the world now could get to see the bravery, perseverance, and sacrifice of a living legend - aung san suu kyi who has been fighting for the democracy of her country. burma, the hidden gem of asia, deserved a great admiration and respect from people all over the world. I always have adored burmese - of how simple and obedient they can live their life with, yet the determination to gain freedom never ceased from their spirit.
Besson indeed stepped out of his comfort zone - not his style to produce such conventional mellow drama. superb casting - either CGI or on purpose, yeoh was at her best on every single move and dialogue that she made, i'm convinced (and terrified at times on the resemblance she achieved on the character). thewlis was also greatly supporting yeoh as the devoted loving husband. watch out for the quite handful of true footage (which I believe has cost a great deal of freedom from anyone who took it).
