Review of The Lady (2011) by Neil T — 20 Jul 2012
Michelle Yeoh is the splitting image of Aung San Suu Kyi, and it is this portrayal of calm poise and serenity that make this movie watchable. At 145 minutes, it is too long, yet doesn't complete the story.
There are far too many scenes of her husband's own struggle to keep their family together in her absence. These could have been cut. Understandably, it must be difficult to make a movie about a woman who wasn't able to leave her own house for so many years, but I'm sure something better could have been done.
