The Kite Runner, had potential to be a trully emotional film. dealing with friendship, family, rape, torture, political turmoil. And there are many scenes that, though at the time aren't too shocking, do manage to stick vividly within your mind for a long time. It is visually compelling and beautiful, the beginning really knew how to drag in an audience-sadly that's about it.

I persoanlly felt that this film tried to do too much in too little time, making it nigh impossible to associate with any particular character or even really care what is going on at all.

But credit to Foster, it is a challenge to any filmmaker to adapt a film from a book, and still maintain the same depth and meaning, and The Kite Runner in that respect was very succesful. Good for a night in on the back ground to last minute research, or maybe to cook to. But not something I can envisage my self seriously sitting down to ever again.
