Review of The Kite Runner (2007) by Henrik H — 23 Dec 2009
Simply put, my expectations towards this movie were zero. Just a glimpse over the cover of the DVD and I thought that "oh fuck no, another fucking art-house piece of shit about the poor afgans and stupid allegories of being free like a kite in the sky".
Man, was I wrong! The movie is kinda simple story of two little boys and their friendship getting soiled first by communists and little later by the Talibans.
I would really spoil the movie telling you more about the plot, but let's summarize the movie in a whole:
The plot is great and touching, the directing is really good, you never feel yourself bored, the actors are your everyday neighbours, but oh man are they great!
If you're into dramatic, kinda sad and still thought-provoking movies, this one is just for you. I admit, I hated muslims and religious fanatics before seeing this movie and after seeing it, I hate them even more. If there's any sympathy and goodness left in your heart, you will like it. Promise.
