Review of The Kissing Booth (2018) by Peter H — 18 Jan 2019
Not often does a movie come along that screams that I must leave a review. I would love to follow the guideline "if I have nothing good to say, then say nothing at all" but I can't. This movie is fun and it may even be a real depiction of teen life in the real world.
But it definitely send a strong message to it's viewers that is concerning. Apparently sexual harassment and assault is okay, so too is statutory rape. Those are the only issues - as long as we gloss over all the gender-based stereotypes, the power imbalances, the physical and mental manipulation that permeates the film and the total lack of moral guidance offered.
I really tried to like this film, I even laughed for the first 30 minutes, but please don't insult my intelligence by peddling this as acceptable.
