Review of The King's Speech (2010) by Tanner K — 14 Sep 2012
About as perfect as a film can get. It's one of the most well paced, well acted, and all around beautiful movies that I've ever seen. Even though it's based an a true story, it doesn't fall for the typical film cliches that most Oscar contenders fall into.
Colin Firth gives a powerful, moving performance as King George VI (aka Bertie). If I hadn't seen Firth in any other movie before this, I would've actually believed that he had a speech impediment.
The supporting cast is all memorable, especially Geoffrey Rush, who's chemistry with Firth is powerful and kinetic. I love this movie; it made me laugh, cry, and any other emotion that tags itself with a great movie.
