Review of The King's Speech (2010) by Louis P — 28 Sep 2013
What a wonderful real life based movie, a real peace of art! All actors gave great performances, specially Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Guy Pearce and Helena Bonham Carter. This movie, well, King George VI story got to me, since we share having speech impediment.
Since I was a little kid, I have always had speech impediments, trouble pronunciating some words. (My first language is spanish. But I feel more comfortable speaking in english). Also I speak with nasal pronunciation.
And sometimes my words get tangled, and if I speak fast, probably you won't understand me. When I speak in english, some people say I sound like Fez from That 70's Show, lol. What helped me control my speech impediments and speak better was theater and it's diction exercises.
When I'm acting (I Love Acting) my friends say I sound perfect, like if I didn't have any speech problems. And my brother is a stutterer. So we both know how it feels to have a speech impediment and fear of public speaking.
But we both achieved to control it (it's not all gone). I just realized I'm a contradiction. I'm an actor with speech impediment and fear of public speaking. LOL.
