Review of The King's Speech (2010) by Aaron J — 25 May 2013
A true excellence in filmmmaking. Tom Hooper continues to reign supreme in the art of making biopics. The King's Speech tells the story of King George VI (Colin Firth) and how he learns to overcome his dibilitating stutter through the help of an unconvention speech therapist Lionel Louge (Geoffrey Rush), and his faithful Wife Lady Elizabeth(Helena Bonham Carter).
This film is so strong in every point of the film. Colin Fith is beyond perfecion in his performance, he tackles everything about who King George VI was with his beautiful acting talent, he shows the King with such a beautiful vulnerabilty and such grace that, makes you see that Colin Firth is truly one of the greatest actors of all time, and such a contribution to the world of cinema.
Geoffrey Rush is so cunning and brilliant as Lionel Louge that you forget that your watching Geoffrey Rush. Helena Bonham Carter is brilliant as always she portrays the Queen with such loving and comforting brilliance that it gives you courage.
Guy Pearce gave a stunning an spectacular performance as well as King Edward, King George's brother, Guy Pearce is beyond brilliant. Colin Firth deserves every accolade that he get for this film. The film is so epic in scale, and in writing that you will leave the theater so uplifted.
This film deserved all of the Academy Award nominations that it got. ****.
