Review of The King of Masks (1995) by Jan R — 12 Oct 2007

This is ONE of the first Asian movies I ever saw. It is strikingly simple but hits with an amazingly strong force. I think women in particular, especially in older age groups or ANYONE who has felt held back because of their gender - and men who cannot empathize with such thing - MUST see this film. The photography is mystical and the theme international. A must see to anyone wanting to understand the "old" Asia and what women have had to go through to gain what little they have gained, especially, outside of China.
