Review of The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (2007) by Allison K — 05 Jan 2012
This movie is extremely overrated. Reviews tend to say "You'll start wondering how people can be so into a video game and then i'll be engaged and rooting for one of the guys." In fact, watching someone sit at a console playing Donkey Kong is *not* interesting and it does just leave me wondering how someone can waste so much of their life on a game, especially when they're filmed in a car with their young daughter who says "some people ruin their lives trying to get a record" and in their basement as their young son is screaming that he needs help to "Daddy stop playing Donkey Kong!" It's just sad.
If it had been framed as a comedy, I might have been entertained.
