Review of The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters (2007) by Rob H — 03 Jan 2014
A documentary so l33t that a better plot couldn't have been written. The story practically wrote itself.

I can't say I've seen a better documentary that shows the true struggle of good vs. evil. You can argue that the way it was film is slanted, but do you seriously whole-heartedly believe that? Steve Wiebe doesnt come across as a genuinely nice person by accident. I really felt bad for him, mostly because he could have been on a multitude of "FAIL" posters (ie. buying a house and getting laid off in the same day). As for Billy Mitchell, well...

Having an appreciation for video games definitely does help the enjoyment factor, though don't be turned off if you dont care for them. This film has suspense, humor and high/low moments. Who thought video games could be so compelling?

To be real, the nerd factor in this movie is high. But these aren't stereotyped super nerds in those American Pie movies. This film really gets into the heirarchy of the nerd kingdom. Hell, one guy retired at 30 so all he does all day is play arcade games. And he isn't even the worst...

Bottom Line(literally), a must see documentary that is so much more than video game nerdz waging wars against video game nerdz.
