Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Nathaniel R — 07 Jun 2008
Interesting dark comedy with Robert De Niro playing a rookie comedian who is pushed to criminal acts in order to get on a late night talk show. De Niro's performance is probably this films greatest asset, being funny but slightly insane and scary the entire time.
I felt that there were a few slow patchs but there are some really excellent scenes and it serves as an interesting companion to Scorsese's earlier film "Taxi Driver". Definitely worth seeing.
