Martin Scorsese has said that this film contains his favorite De Niro performance. And you can see why. Like Travis Bickle turned into a clown, Rupert Pupkin is a crazy great character. And this movie is a comedy with serious stings.
So, if you can take unbearable awkwardness, see it for the payoff.
