Review of The King of Comedy (1982) by Swayam B — 06 Apr 2011
The King of Comedy creates within itself a brilliant world as seen through Robert Pupkin's eyes. Pupkin is a deranged comedian who relates all of us, however he takes his psychotic ideas to the extreme.
All of this is not unlike Travis Bickle, although Pupkin's shenanigans only end up hurting himself in the end. I absolutely loved the story here. It's like watching a Kurt Vonnegut novel on screen with an amazing amount of quality black comedy and satirical proposals.
The story here is gripping and fantastically told with Scorsese's direction. There is so much to love in this film it deserves to be watched by everyone.
