Review of The King and I (1956) by Nick K — 14 Sep 2010
Forget it, once you see Deborah Kerr as Miss Anna and Yul Brynner as the King, you'll throw the other remakes (and original movie) out the window. These two ARE the characters (although I suspect the story has been highly tamed down for this movie).
Kerr plays the British schoolteacher butting heads with the King Of Siam when she goes to his kingdom to teach the myriad of kids he has. The cast is perfect, the story is very good but it could be shortened a bit (maybe a bit too many unneccesary songs (and the Uncle Tom's Cabin bit really lengthens it rather unnecessarily).
If your looking for story-wise, maybe the original Anna and the King Of Siam is better, but this is far more entertaining.
