Review of The King and I (1956) by Michael T — 20 Oct 2017
Perhaps the best of the Rodgers & Hammerstein musicals adapted for the screen, a superb, faithful rendering of the stage play; Yul Brynner won an Oscar for his iconic portrayal of the King, and Deborah Kerr (Oscar nominee) matches his performance at every turn.
The wonderful score includes "Hello Young Lovers," "Getting to Know You," "Something Wonderful," and "Shall We Dance?" and includes Jerome Robbins' original choreography as an added bonus.
