Review of The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976) by Simon B — 02 Mar 2008
One of those films I can't now imagine living without. Gazzara and Cassavettes bring out one of the most honest characters in cinematic history. Is he an asshole or a saint? A misogynist or a romantic? A blind fool wasting away in self hatred or a free spirit trying to hold his band of outsiders together? Don't come looking for answers cause you won't find em here.
Ambiguity at its finest.
