Review of The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976) by Norman S — 11 Oct 2007
John Cassavetes had a tough time making and distributing his films, and, like the main character of this film, had a self-destructive streak constantly in conflict with his otherwise altruistic nature.
An excellent performance by Ben Gazzara ('you don't know the Paris number?') makes this character study worth more than one viewing.
