Review of The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976) by Private U — 01 Feb 2009
I hated this picture when I first saw it, but something made me give it another look, and getting to know its unusual language results in a rewarding and fascinating movie experience. A film noir only in milieu, this is really a sad sack screwball comedy about a two-bit loser whose actions always revolve around keeping his cheesy nightclub afloat.
