Review of The Killing Fields (1984) by Christopher G — 28 Jun 2007
Has there been another mainsteam film that dealt with the aftermath of what happened when the Khmer Rouge took over Cambodia? This film powerfully depicts the camps that led to the genocide of over 1.5 million people.
Dr. Haing S. Ngor stars in the film as someone who must survive the camps...as he had also in real life. This is not a light film by any definition but should be watched by anyone who would like to see a genuinely powerful depiction that helps put some events of the latter half of the 20th centuty into perspective.
Sad that Roland Joffe has fallen so far.
