Review of The Killing Fields (1984) by Lois R — 23 Jan 2008
True tale of New York Times photographer Sidney Schaunberg and his Cambodian assistant Dith Pran during Pol Pot's era of The Killing Fields. Incredible film! We are shown the horrors that the Cambodians had to endure .
.. and we witness friendships develop. I fell in love with Dith Pran (as did most the audience). Dr. Haing S. Ngor (who was murdered years late in NYC) deserved an Oscar for this role if he did not receive one.
I don't know, but it was his acting debut and he really carried a big chunk of the weight of this film.
