Review of The Killing Fields (1984) by Rob J — 08 May 2013
A powerful film, but I say that through the lens of someone who has watched the film for the first time after having visited said killing fields of Choeung Ek near Phnom Penh and the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum.
I struggled to remain objective with this film and got sucked into the emotional drama and the intensity of the sacking of the city. On a technical note, I thought the decision to not include any subtitles was genius - really added to the confusion, especially when the Western journalists get taken by the Khmer.
