Review of The Killers (1946) by Jacob O — 05 Jan 2011
A classic film noir featuring Burt Lancaster in his first major role as an ex-boxer turned smalltime hood who at the start of the film is killed in his bed. From there, and in much the same way as Citizen Kane, the rest of the story is mostly told in flashback as an insurance investigator sets out to find out why he was killed.
What follows is a tale of a fallen boxer, fast mouthed hitmen, femme fatales, double and triple crosses all leading to a satisfying conclusion.
