Review of The Killers (1946) by Late R — 26 Nov 2017
Even though the performances are top notch, most of the characters themselves are pretty thinly written, with Ava Gardner playing the only role that really captivates your interest. But with a striking opening sequence that has you immediately hooked on the mystery at hand and a story that is cleverly told so as to ensure its audience is never too far ahead of events, there is plenty to keep you thoroughly engrossed from beginning to end.
Add to that some great cinematography and lighting, and you have yourself a heist/mystery noir film that has earned its place as a classic.
