Review of The Killer Inside Me (2010) by Viktor N — 28 Aug 2011
It had lots of potential, but sadly the misfitted melodrama mixes oddly with the darkly comedic tone, resulting in a rather confusing, frustrating, and disjointed experience. The film never really becomes painfully boring, there's always something strange going on, especially due to Casey Affleck's magnificent performance and the intricasy and complexity of his character.
The writing is fairly sloppy and confusing, partly due to the odd pacing combined with the distance from the characters. In the end, the film feels a bit of an ordeal to get through, but it's still a rather interesting experience.
